The Weight down in the Ground

Here’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Truth.

The moments and days of vulnerability release me or throw me into shame. Fight through it and over it.

Depression.

It’s real.

Even on the brightest days, the darkness comes. But I’m always seeking the light.

Depression is the weight down in the ground, pulling you to your knees. Placing you in outside silence with inside pain.

I don’t often speak of my depression but God keeps asking me to. So here I am.

My depression has been a long journey my entire life. Many moments have placed one foot forward, and others several steps back.

But even when it’s light, the darkness travels through and I always pray it doesn’t stay long.

The words: “I struggle with depression.” Is my power to overcome. Because those words give me the power to do just that.

Overcome.
